Chapitala is an ideal village under Chapitala Union No. 08 under Muradnagar Upazila of Comilla district. There is a high school and two government primary schools in the village. Due to the remote location of the village and its surrounding villages, the boys and girls of this area had to walk to Companiganj or Srikail College for higher education and secondary and undergraduate studies. Mr. Habibur Rahman Sarkar, a prominent educationist and philanthropist, a descendant of this village, was able to understand that the social, economic and cultural development of the backward people of the village is not possible without the spread of education.
Therefore, at the age of 36 (thirty-six) years, he established Farid Uddin Sarkar Degree College on about 3 (three) acres of land in a natural and beautiful environment, on the banks of the Nimai Juri River with a developed communication system. The institution was granted permission to open the subject by the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Comilla on 15-11-1995 and received academic recognition on 01-01-1996. The institution received academic affiliation in the B.A./B.S.S. department from the National University on 07-03-2000. The institution was affiliated to M.P.O from 01-04-1996.
The institution is established in a beautiful natural environment and with a developed communication system, so the number of students is increasing day by day. Due to the good quality of education in the college, the results of the public examination are 2nd/3rd at the upazila level every year. The founder, the governing body, is constantly monitoring the quality of education. The working teachers also provide up-to-date teaching.
The institution is moving forward day by day with the aim of creating a skilled and work-oriented nation in coordination with modern education and with the goal and objective of building a modern digital Bangladesh. Finally, the founder of this college, Mr. Habibur Rahman Sarkar, will always be remembered by the locals as a lover of education and a philanthropist for spreading education in this area.
